Out now: Acheron – “Alla Xul” Picture 7″ EP

Whether it was Beherit‘s ‘Dawn Of Satan’s Millennium’ or Benediction‘s ‘Return To The Eve’, I can’t remember exactly, but ever since I got my hands on those two gorgeous picture 7″ EPs some twenty-five years ago, I’ve been in love with the format. That love was reinforced in the 2000s by the picture 7” EPs from Hells Headbangers Records and labels such as Horror Records. The minimalist approach, with just an inlay behind such a beautifully designed 7” EP: for me, an aesthetic highlight.

The idea of contributing to this phenomenon myself dates back to the late 2000s, but it took quite a few years for those plans to become reality. But now, in December 2025, the time has come: the first picture 7” EP in a longer series on WolfKult Religion is here. And I couldn’t be prouder to kick off this series with one of my favourite old EPs: Acheron‘s ‘Alla Xul’.

It has turned out beautifully and, not unimportantly, it sounds fantastic. Everything has been carefully designed using original scans, courtesy of Kris Gklavas. Connoisseurs will notice that the images have been sharpened and the EP now plays at 45 RPM on both sides for the best possible sound (the original played both sides at different speeds), but otherwise everything has been left as it was originally intended.

Made available in a limited run of 200 copies in full collaboration with Vincent Crowley. Get your copies at the shop!
